Respect is the dress code

Fashion show etiquette

How we care for each other, backstage and in the house, so every designer, model, and guest can shine.

Consent comes first

You must ask before you touch any model, or anyone. No exceptions, backstage or front of house. This is the one rule that holds up every other rule on this page.

House rules

How we move together

Whether you are walking, working, or watching, these are the ways we keep the runway safe and joyful for everyone in the room.

Ask before you touch

Consent applies to everyone. Models, dressers, crew, and guests included, and it extends to garments and equipment too. If you are not sure, ask first, every time.

Respect the garments

A collection is months of a designer's work, often stitched by hand. Handle pieces only if you are asked to help, and only as directed.

Backstage is a working space

Keep clear of dressing areas unless you are working them. What you see backstage stays backstage, and always ask before photographing anyone behind the scenes.

Respect identity

Use the names and pronouns people give you. Every body on this runway belongs here, and we celebrate each one.

During the show

Stay seated during walks and keep the runway clear. Photos are welcome from your seat. Please mind your flash unless the production team tells you otherwise.

Be kind to the crew

Volunteers, dressers, hair and makeup artists, and production staff work hard to make the night run. Patience, please, and thank you go a long way.

Built to be a safe, celebratory space

This show was built to be a safe, celebratory space for everyone. If something does not feel right at an event, find a staff member or volunteer right away. We will take it from there.
