Welcome to Le Pasefika Runway's third annual fashion show
Le Pasefika Runway was founded in 2022 In Portland, Oregon by Andrew Faalogo who is a well-known fashion producer in the Pacific Northwest. The premise of the fashion show is to have a runway show under one roof for BIPOC LGBTQAI+ PACIFIC ISLAND designers from different backgrounds to showcase their talents. Not only designers but models from all body types, disability, and backgrounds. So, for the past two years, we were able to make it come alive with first-timers, emerging designers and models from all walks of life on Le Pasefika Runway.
We are now in our third year with new designers and models ready to showcase and walk the runway this year. We have designers who stated that they're pleased to have this platform for their very first collection to showcase. We also have models who have never walked in a fashion show and feel that we have given them an opportunity to be part of something unexpected and extraordinary for them personally and professionally. We are very excited for Le Pasefika Runway to keep paving a pathway for all people to express themselves in such a way that the mainstream fashion show industry hasn't traditionally showcased.
The fashion industry is changing for the better
Many folks in the fashion industry are underrepresented and feel out of place. They are not seen as equal to their peers and may even have a harder time getting opportunities in the fashion community, but that should not mean that they should be tossed aside for being unique in their own way. The only way that we can all help change that is to work together and provide more opportunities for the underrepresented.
